Franchitti planning to keep his hands on racing

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Dario Franchitti is beginning to feel better and that the effects of a lingering concussion have improved dramatically over the last three weeks.

He's still not going to race.

On Thursday, more than after a month announcing his retirement, the four-time IndyCar Series champion finally felt well enough to take questions at Ganassi's race shop in Indianapolis.

Doctors instructed the three-time Indianapolis 500 winner to retire because of injuries Franchitti sustained in a frightening October crash in Houston. Franchitti said that after hearing the advice, he spent two days trying to figure out whether he could make a comeback before deciding it was too risky.

Franchitti isn't going far. He plans to help Ganassi's four-car team in a still undefined capacity.
