TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — A major motion picture about women's professional football is going to be filmed in Toledo.
Brett Leonard, the Hollywood film director and producer of the project, tells The (Toledo) Blade (http://bit.ly/15CMtDA ) that said he signed a contract Thursday to make the film. He'll collaborate with Guy Stout and Steve Guinan, two native Toledoans who wrote the screenplay.
The film is called "Perfect Season," about how Toledo's first female professional team, the Toledo Troopers, contributed to the women's movement in the 1970s.
Casting is planned this fall, with filming sometime next year. It's expected to hit theaters in the fall of 2014.
Leonard, who is also from Toledo, said he plans to be in town the last week of August to scout locations and meet with public officials.
