Carol Anderson, widow of Sparky Anderson, dies

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) — Carol Anderson, wife of the late Hall of Fame manager Sparky Anderson, has died at 79.

Family friend Dan Ewald says Wednesday that she passed away from natural causes Tuesday night in her home in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

Sparky Anderson died in 2010. He was the first manager to win the World Series in both the American and National Leagues, leading the Detroit Tigers and Cincinnati Reds to titles.

Survivors include sons Lee and Albert; daughter Shirlee Englebrecht and many grandchildren.
