Liberty Hills hosts Wendy’s Jr. Classic
07/16/08 Grant Ricketts of Belle Center won the 11-and-under boys and girls division to highlight the Wendy’s Jr. Classic on Monday at Liberty Hills Golf Club. Ricketts was the lone local golfer to finish first. Earning runner-up honors were Bellefontaine’s Connor Burton in the boys 11-and-under division, Belle Center’s Blaine Ricketts in the boys 12-13 division, West Liberty’s Ryan Meister in the boys 14-15 division and Bellefontaine’s Morgan Conley in the girls 15-and-under division. Grant Ricketts shot a 44 to win the 11-and-under division, while Burton had a 48 for second. Other local golfers competing in that age class were Connor Adelsberger (49), Gregory Coffey (50), Nic Lyons (54), Cole McDaniel (58), Alan LaBelle (67), Bronx Meadows (71) and Brandi Powell (87). Grant Inutsuka of Dublin won the boys 12-13 division with a 67. Blaine Ricketts and Ben Heimbach of Dayton each shot 75 for second. Also competing in the 12-13 division were area residents Nick Sims (76), Cody Lyons (78), Tristin Tillman (89), Ed Kenoyer (97), Travis Fowler (98), Nicholas Burton (101), Devon Kipker (106), Jarrod Houchin (110), Andrew Funderburgh (111), Colton Dement (133) and Gabe Lawson (137). Michael Bernard of Huber Heights fired a 63 to win the 14-15 boys division. Bernard also won the overall tournament title and in the process set a new junior course record at Liberty Hills. Meister and Kris Smedes of Powell tied for second in the 14-15 division with 78s. Other local golfers in the 14-15 division included Chris White (79), Quinton Yocom (80), Ben Rutan (84), Mitch Kenoyer (90), Derrick Overholt (90), Dylan McGarry (92), Taylor Parker (98), Mike Hilterbran (102), Noah Lawson (110) and John Hance (126). Nick Inutsuka of Dublin won the boys 16-18 division with a 71. Finishing in a tie for second with 74s were Tyler Hooghe of Delaware and Kyle Furlong of New Carlisle. Area boys in the 16-18 division were Christian Garlock (80), Nic Bishop (82), Alex King (85), Brandon Whitehead (87), T.R. Nisonger (97) and Garrett Dallas (98). South Geneva’s Danielle Nicholson was the winner of the 15-and-under girls division with a 73. Conley shot an 83 for second. Also competing in that division were local girls Hali Brewer (88) and Heather Comer (121).
