Bellefontaine and Riverside have earned a spot in the semifinal round of the Acme sectional baseball tournament after the opening weekend of action at Blue Jacket Park.
Bellefontaine and Riverside play at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday with a spot in the sectional championship game on the line.
Riverside advanced after a 9-8 win over Indian Lake on Saturday and a 12-0 five-inning win over West Liberty-Salem on Sunday.
Against the Lakers, Riverside trailed 6-0 after three innings. However, the Pirates battled back with two runs in the fourth inning, five runs in the fifth and two runs in the sixth.
Landon Kelsey went 3-4 with three RBI and scored two runs to spark Riverside. Connor Cotterman was 2-3, Gavin Stallard was 2-3 and Dillon Roof also went 2-3 to aid the win.
Riverside had a much easier time Sunday as Trey Lane tossed a three-hit shutout in the rout of WL-Salem.
Lane struck out five in the win.
At the plate for the Pirates, Roof and Lane each had three hits to lead the way. Kelsey, Trey Long and Trey Helmlinger each added two hits.
Riverside is now 7-2 on the season.
Bellefontaine, which had a first-round bye, defeated Triad 7-0 on Saturday in its opening game. Details of the game were not reported.
