Talented Greenville squad eliminates Raiders

Softball

State-ranked Greenville proved to be too much for visiting Benjamin Logan’s softball team Thursday as the Raiders fell 8-1 in a Division II sectional tournament semifinal.

The Green Wave, ranked third in the latest state poll, improve to 25-3 on the season. It is the 11th time they have reached the 25-win mark. They face Northwestern in the sectional final Tuesday.

The Raiders finish their spring campaign at 20-9.

“Greenville is a very good team,” said Ben Logan head coach John Stahl. “We were only able to get four or five hits off their pitcher, she is the best we’ve faced this year.

“Our girls never gave up. We had several chances to score runs, but couldn’t get the key hit we needed. I believe we left seven runners on base. I’m very proud of all the girls and this team. We had a great season, winning 20 games this year.”
