Late surge helps Ben Logan put away Falcons

Benjamin Logan’s baseball team broke loose for 10 runs over the fifth and sixth innings to zap visiting Graham 10-1 on Tuesday in a Division II sectional tournament opener.

The third-seeded Raiders move to 17-6 and host fourth-seeded Kenton Ridge (14-12) on Thursday in a sectional semifinal contest. The Falcons finish the season 9-15.

Junior Zane Collins fired a one-hitter to lead Ben Logan to the victory. He recorded nine strikeouts with two walks and no earned runs.

Graham squeezed out a run in the top of the third inning for a 1-0 lead.

Ben Logan got its offense going in the fifth. The Raiders drove in five runs to jump ahead 5-1. The Raiders continued to pull away with five more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
