Haley’s walk-off homer sends Chiefs past Raiders

Senior Jazmyn Haley hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to send Bellefontaine’s softball team past visiting Benjamin Logan 7-6 in a local Central Buckeye Conference battle Thursday.

The Chiefs are now 7-8 overall and 4-4 in the CBC, while the Raiders slip to 10-6, 5-5.

Bellefontaine trailed 6-5 after six innings. Ben Logan came up empty in the top of the seventh, which set the stage for the Chieftains to find some late magic.

MacKenzie Brunswick hit a single with one out to get a base runner on for BHS. Haley then came up and launched a pitch over the center field fence to win the game.

“It was a very exciting win for us,” said BHS head coach Katie Buffkin. “We battled the whole way through and capitalized when we needed to.”
