Polar Bears to begin competing in the local league this fall

The Northwest Central Conference will have a new member in the fall.

League commissioner David May announced Wednesday that Hardin Northern will join the NWCC for the 2014-15 school year in every sport except for football.

The Polar Bears’ football program, which once enjoyed a high level of success, has fallen on hard times recently.

Low numbers prevented the Polar Bears from playing a varsity schedule last fall. They expect to field a varsity football team again for the 2015-16 school year, and will compete in the NWCC at that point.

“The NWCC is excited to have Hardin Northern join the league and is looking forward to a long-term relationship,” commented May in a press release.

The Northwest Central Conference currently consists of Riverside, Ridgemont, Lehman Catholic, Perry, Lima Temple Christian, Upper Scioto Valley, Waynesfield-Goshen and Ft. Loramie (football only).
