The Hilliker Heat swim team had eight of its swimmers compete in the Southwest Ohio YMCA Short Course AA Championships at Miami University.
To enter a given event, a swimmer must have achieved a championship qualifying time during the current short course swim season. Swimmers on the Hilliker Heat that competed in the meet were Emily Fulmer, Amy Fulmer, Shelby Starkey, Emma Smith, Jessica Miller, Molly Schulz and Skyler Tavenner. Tori Cline qualified for the meet, but did not compete.
In the 11-12 girls age group, Amy Fulmer won the 50 backstroke, was third in the 100 backstroke, finished eighth in the 100 individual medley, 15th in the 50 freestyle and 16th in the 100 freestyle and Shelby Starkey took 16th in the 100 butterfly and 10th in the B Final of the 50 backstroke.
Competing in the girls 13-14 division, Emily Fulmer took sixth in the 50 freestyle, eighth in the 100 butterfly, 17th in the 100 freestyle and 18th in the 100 backstroke.
In the girls 15-and-over division, the 200 freestyle relay team of Jessica Miller, Molly Schulz, Emma Smith and Emily Fulmer took 13th and the same foursome placed 16th in the 200 medley relay.
Emily Fulmer, Amy Fulmer and Tavenner will represent the Heat at the Great Lakes Zone Championships, which are March 21-23 at Ohio State University.
