Streaky Stivers too much for WL-Salem

TIPP CITY — A series of scoring streaks and nifty passing allowed Dayton Stivers to pull away from West Liberty-Salem here Tuesday in a Division III sectional tournament semifinal game.

Second-seeded Stivers pushed the pace and was able to get a lot of close looks as it handed WL-Salem a 70-51 tourney loss.

“It was all about getting defensive boards,” said WL-Salem head coach Darrin Leichty. “They had nine offensive boards at the half and (most of those) they scored off of. Our box-out technique needs to be better.”
