Next chapter of BHS-Urbana rivalry to be written in postseason

Bellefontaine Chiefs

There is always an extra buzz in the air when Bellefontaine and Urbana meet. Add in the atmosphere of the sectional tournament and the matchup takes on an even greater meaning.

The Chiefs will clash with the top-seeded Hillclimbers in a Division II sectional semifinal at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Springfield High School.

It will be a rematch of a regular-season game in which Urbana beat the host Chiefs 45-41.

“We did not shoot well as a team from the field in that first game,” said Bellefontaine head coach Henry Stolly. “We missed out on some good scoring opportunities. We also were inconsistent at times with our defense.”

Urbana, which cruised past Graham 54-35 in a first-round game Saturday afternoon, has built an 18-5 record with a stingy defense and a balanced offense.
