Triad senior Rickey Bruce won both of his matches to provide a local highlight Friday on the opening day of the Division III Southwest District wrestling tournament in Troy.
Bruce (182) opened the afternoon with a 16-1 technical fall over Waynesville’s Joshua Martin. He followed that up with a pin (1:27) over Ada’s Noah Beach to reach the semifinal round.
In today’s semifinals, Bruce will clash with Greeneview star Armani Robinson.
Also still alive for Triad are Zack Zizzo (132) and Damian Boldman (152).
Zizzo suffered a 12-5 first-round loss to Dayton Christian’s Seth Bell. However, he rebounded by pinning Danny Constantino of Madeira in 4:40 in the first consolation round.
