Riverside boys storm back to topple Gophers

Riverside’s boys basketball team used a strong defensive effort to shut down visiting Ridgemont on Tuesday and come away with a 58-35 Northwest Central Conference victory.

The win improves the Pirates to 8-10 overall and 2-3 in the NWCC, while the Gophers fall to 2-14, 0-5.

“We played great defense tonight,” said RHS head coach Daniel Hickman. “After the first quarter we only gave up 20 points the rest of the game. We got off to a slow start, but our guys responded after that.

“We’ve really gained some momentum these last couple of games, so that is nice heading into the tournament. It was also nice to get another league win.”
