Dispatcher faces OVI charge

A Bellefontaine Police Department dispatcher currently on paid administrative leave has entered not guilty pleas to operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and failure to control.

Troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol filed charges Monday alleging Cindy Padgitt, 58, of  Bellefontaine, backed her sport utility vehicle into two parked vehicles at 312 Belle Meadows Drive around 12:05 a.m. Nov. 10.

Police officers were dispatched to the scene and referred the crash investigation per departmental policy. Troopers were used as Ms. Padgitt also dispatches part-time for the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.

Police Chief Brandon Standley said the administrative review of the incident continues and he anticipates it will be finalized this week with a decision.

The 29 1/2-year employee remains on paid leave.
