Bellefontaine’s girls basketball team had longtime nemesis Tippecanoe on the ropes, but could not come up with the knockout punch Saturday afternoon.

A three-pointer by Liz Martin with 11 seconds left brought Bellefontaine within a point.
The host Chiefs got only one more shot off, though, and it was a full-court desperation heave that fell short and allowed the Red Devils to escape with a 50-48 victory.
“I told the girls that this was the gutsiest performance I’ve seen since I’ve been here,” said BHS head coach Brian Hogan. “They gave it everything they had.”
