Chiefs set to tangle with Cougars in Kenton Trail opener

Bellefontaine Chiefs

Bellefontaine’s boys basketball team is looking to carry over an impressive performance against Greenon on Tuesday into its Central Buckeye Conference opener Friday against visiting Kenton Ridge.

The Chiefs (1-1) blasted the host Knights 63-38 in a game that Bellefontaine led by 35 at one point in the second half.

Now, Bellefontaine will try to get off to a good start in CBC Kenton Trail division play against the Cougars.

Kenton Ridge beat Springfield Catholic Central 58-51 in its season opener Nov. 29. The Cougars fell to Northwestern 55-50 on Tuesday.

“We always expect a tough game against Kenton Ridge,” said Bellefontaine head coach Henry Stolly. “We have played a lot of close games with them over the years. I’m sure coach (Kris) Spriggs will have his guys ready to go.”
