Triad, Printz welcome challenges regional title game brings

Cardinals aim to take down powerhouse Saturday at Piqua

Triad got what it wanted: A spot in the regional championship game and a shot at taking on one of the best football teams in the state.

That comes in the form of two-time defending state champion and Midwest Athletic Conference power Marion Local, which the Cardinals will play Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Division VII regional championship at Alexander Stadium in Piqua.

“If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best,” said Triad head coach Payton Printz. “We have never had the opportunity to play the best the MAC has to offer and now we do.

“This will be a true measuring stick to allow us to see how far we have come as a program or how hard we need to work to reach a Marion Local-type program. Our boys must believe in their hearts and minds that we can beat them.”
