Bellefontaine’s boys came up short in earning a team berth for the regional meet, but junior Ryan Dunn was able to escape as an individual and become the only Division II runner to qualify.
The top three teams and remaining individuals who finished in the top 12 not on a qualifying team advanced to the regional meet Saturday in Troy.
Carroll, which is ranked seventh in the final Division II state poll, won the boys A race with 31 points and placed three runners in the top six. Ninth-ranked Oakwood came in second with 89 points, while Northwestern grabbed the final qualifying spot in third with 91 points.
Chaminade-Julienne and Bellefontaine tied for fourth with 114 points each, but the Chieftains lost on a tiebreaker and had to settle for fifth. Benjamin Logan came in 10th with 281 points.
