crosscountry

Bellefontaine’s boys cross country team continues to surge after the Chieftains finished fourth out of 20 teams Saturday at the Anna Rocket Invitational.

The host Rockets won with 59 points, Russia earned runner-up with 94 points, Columbus Grove came in third with 111 points and the Chieftains were fourth with 142 points. Lima Central Catholic finished fifth with 162 points and West Liberty-Salem was sixth with 171 points.

“We beat LCC who had beaten us earlier in the year,” said BHS head coach Ben Davis. “David (Guajardo) is finally making his move. If we can get a tighter top five pack we might be able to crack the top three at district and qualify to the regional meet.”

Russia edged McAuley 55-56 to win the girls race, with Covington coming in third with 138 points. The Tiger girls were seventh with 231 points, the Chieftains were 12th with 294 points and Indian Lake took 16th with 430 points.
