Chiefs look to avoid another slow start

Unbeaten Red Devils present big challenge in Kenton Trail opener

On the bright side, Bellefontaine’s football team has shown the ability to make key halftime adjustments in building a 3-2 record through five games.

Those adjustments have been necessary because Bellefontaine has trailed at the intermission in four of its five games.

The Chiefs have been outscored 35-13 in the first quarter and 84-64 overall in the first half.

Bellefontaine is hoping to solve its early-game issues as it hosts unbeaten Tippecanoe at 7:30 p.m. Friday for homecoming.

Friday’s game kicks off Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail division play.

“We feel like we have a finger on what we need to do to fix it,” said BHS head coach Toby Smith of the first-half struggles. “We have been putting an emphasis on getting ourselves better prepared for the start of the game.”
