Triad looks to stay perfect as rival M'burg awaits Friday
Just when the daily routine of a long football season might become stale for some teams, one of Triad’s biggest rivals awaits Friday.
The Cardinals appear more motivated than ever this week as they prepare to travel to Mechanicsburg for an Ohio Heritage Conference showdown at 7 p.m.
“The fact that our next opponent is Mechanicsburg will totally motivate our boys,” said Triad boss Payton Printz. “I’m sure both teams will bring their ‘A’ games and it will be a knock-down, drag-out affair.
“Small division high school football does not get any better than hometown rivalries like this one. They don’t care for us and the feelings are mutual. We can’t wait until Friday night.”
Triad (5-0, 2-0) is ranked fifth in the latest Division VII state poll. Despite some miscues in the first half, the Cardinals were able to gain a 34-7 win against Greeneview last week.
“I really liked how our defense rose to the occasion Friday night against Greeneview,” said Printz. “For us to have five turnovers and hold them to seven points in the first half is remarkable. The ability of our players to keep their composure in the face of adversity and come out in the second half and take control of the contest was especially important to our team.”
