Bellefontaine’s boys cross country team continued to surge Saturday with a runner-up performance at the Kettering-Fairmont Invitational.
Oakwood won the boys meet with 36 points, while the Chieftains were second and Kettering Alter was third.
“We had a solid race,” said BHS boys head coach Ben Davis. “We are still waiting for that one race in which we are all firing on all pistons getting everyone to run at their best.”
The Chieftains had five runners finish in the top 20. That group included Ryan Dunn in 10th (17:56), Wes Samuels in 12th (18:10), David Guajardo in 15th (18:17), Storm Harman in 17th (18:31) and Jay Clement in 20th (18:43).
Also in action were T.J. Lamb in 32nd (19:44), Adam Preston in 35th (20:01), Logan Carr in 42nd (20:22) and Adam Verbsky in 62nd (21:42).
In the junior varsity race, Dean Smith was 76th (21:54), Tyler Avila was 82nd (22:08), Cayden Dement was 87th (22:50), Zack Kerns was 107th (24:13), Keith Wisecup was 109th (24:26) and Michael Coakley was 114th (25:32).
