Cardinals keep soaring with 34-7 win over Rams

Triad’s state-ranked football squad faced some early adversity against visiting Greeneview Friday, but the Cardinals overcame five first-half turnovers to post a 34-7 win in OhioHeritage Conference action.
The Cardinals remain unbeaten at 5-0 overall and are 2-0 in the OHC. The Rams slide to 3-2, 1-1.
It was also a big night for senior linebacker Steven Feasel, who tied the school record for sacks in a season. Feasel recorded two sacks Friday to bring his season total to 10 1/2
in just five games. The record is shared with Nick Hupp, who had the same amount in 2003.
Second half spells success for Chiefs vs. Lakers
Bellefontaine proved to be too much for Indian Lake in the second half of a game in which the Chiefs outscored the Lakers 38-27.
The visiting Lakers jumped out to a 14-0 lead and led 21-16 at halftime. However, Bellefontaine outscored Indian Lake 22-6 in the second half to pull away for a 38-27 win in a Central Buckeye Conference crossover football game.
Bellefontaine moves to 3-2 on the season, while the Lakers drop to 1-4.
Lehman Catholic overwhelms Riverside in NWCC contest
Lehman Catholic got off to a slow start against host Riverside on Friday, but pulled away for a 57-0 victory in Northwest Central Conference action.
The loss drop the Pirates to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the NWCC, while the Cavaliers improve to 4-1, 2-0.
Connor Cotterman led Riverside with 63 rushing yards on offense and had seven tackles and a sack on defense.
Tigers blast Jets to keep perfect record
West Liberty-Salem did not let off the gas pedal Friday en route to a 49-23 win against host Northeastern in Ohio Heritage Conference action.
The Tigers’ record remains spotless midway through the season at 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the OHC. The Jets tumble to 1-4, 0-2.
Sophomore quarterback Brandon Upton delivered for WL-Salem’s offense on Friday with 237 passing yards and four touchdown passes. The Tigers’ offense finished the game with 339 total yards and saw six different players score.
Red Devils’ ground attack overwhelms Raiders
Tippecanoe’s powerful offensive attack roughed up visiting Benjamin Logan on Friday as the host Red Devils ran away with a 69-0 victory in Central Buckeye Conference crossover action.
The win keeps the Red Devils perfect at 5-0 on the season. The Raiders remain winless at 0-5.
Tippecanoe grabbed control of the game early with four touchdowns in the first quarter.
David Wenger sparked the Raiders’ efforts with 39 receiving yards.
Gophers grab non-league win over Millersport
Ridgemont got its offense rolling in the first half against visiting Millersport on Friday and came away with a 33-8 non-league victory.
The Gophers jumped back into the win column after three straight losses. They are 2-3 overall, while the Lakers remain winless at 0-5.
McGue piled up 154 rushing yards and three TDs on 17 carries and Smith tallied 82 rushing yards and one score on 20 carries.
Defensively for the Gophers, Deric Cobb had eight tackles and two interceptions, Eddie Lightner had 10 tackles and one interception and Aaron Shepherd had nine tackles.
