Three local drivers fare well at Shady Bowl Speedway

Three local racers had a winning night at Shady Bowl Speedway on Saturday.

Gary Eaton Jr. of West Liberty won the Vores Compact Touring Series feature, West Liberty’s Chris Parker took the checkered flag for the modified main and Quincy’s Josh Smith was the winner for the late model feature.

There were more than 20 cars on hand for the Vores Compact event. In the feature, 19 cars took to the track. Chris Crozier jumped out front at the start and led the first three laps. Chris Jennings then took over the lead for two laps before giving way to Ron Masters.

Masters then led the field until late in the race, when son-in-law and fast qualifier Gary Eaton Jr. took over the lead. The 2013 track champion led the final laps to get the win. Masters was second, with Holli Eaton third, Terry Eaton fourth and Dylan Troyer fifth. Masters was the dash winner, with Phil Iliff and Jason Timmerman taking heat honors. Gary Eaton was fast qualifier.
