Tigers fend off SCC for OHC golf crown

West Liberty-Salem received a challenge from Springfield Central Catholic, but the Tigers were able to pull out a six-stroke win in the Ohio Heritage Conference boys tournament Thursday at Locust Hills.

The Tigers, who went undefeated in regular-season OHC matches, finished with a 316. SCC was runner-up with 322.

“Give Catholic Central credit because they pushed us to the very end,” said WL-Salem coach Darrin Leichty. “Once again, we had a different combination of players step up. We have to be better off the tee if we want to advance next week at sectionals.”
