West Liberty-Salem’s boys and girls cross country teams came up with strong showings Saturday at the Graham Invitational.
The Tiger girls finished fourth out of 10 teams and the boys squad took fifth out of 15 teams in a competitive field.
Springfield Shawnee won the boys race with 49 points, Xenia was second with 68 points, Sidney took third with 117 points, Lehman Catholic came in fourth with 129 points and the Tigers were fifth with 144 points. Benjamin Logan finished in 11th with 262 points and Indian Lake was 15th with 452 points.
The girls race went to Versailles with 45 points, Springfield Shawnee took runner-up with 61 points, Lehman Catholic was third with 111 points and the Tiger girls were fourth with 126 points. Indian Lake earned eighth with 208 points and Ben Logan was 10th with 232 points.
“This was by far our best showing of the season and I’m excited to see the girls continue to improve,” said WL-Salem girls head coach Ann Vogel. “I’m also impressed with how they competed on such a tough course.”
