Bellefontaine’s girls tennis team was defeated by host Urbana 3-2 on Thursday.
The Chiefs were victorious at first singles and at first doubles.
At first singles, Bellefontaine’s Kiersten Daum outlasted Hannah Zerkle 6-3, 3-6, 7-5.
“Kiersten’s hustle was the determining factor in her match,” said BHS coach James Howell. “She has an ability to extend points just when it appears to be over.”
At first doubles, the Chiefs’ Hannah Vance and Hannah Weimer extended their winning streak to four in a row with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Loren Ropp and Erika Michael.
“Vance and Weimer are complementing each other very well at that spot,” said Howell.
Urbana won at second singles, with Taylor Bodey defeating Traysa Downing 6-0, 6-0.
The Hillclimbers took the third singles match by forfeit.
Urbana’s other win came at second doubles. Courtney Hobbs and Kaylan Turnmire won 6-0, 6-0 over Jenna Champion and Debbie McClain.
