Bellefontaine netters fall short against Catholic Central

Bellefontaine’s girls team was defeated by host Springfield Catholic Central 3-2 on Monday in non-league play.

Wins for the Chiefs came in the second singles spot and at first doubles.

At second singles, Bellefontaine’s Kenzie Collinsworth continued her strong play with a win over Julia Britto by a score of 6-1, 6-4. The win brings Collinsworth’s record in dual matches to 5-6.

In the first doubles match, the tandem of Hannah Vance and Hannah Weimer ran their record as a pair to 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Brandi Lyons and Emily Watton.

SCC’s Brenda McCombs won 6-1, 6-0 over Kiersten Daum at first singles, while Bellefontaine had to forfeit the third singles match.

The Irish also won at second doubles as Toni McFadden and Brooke Tillman prevailed 6-1, 6-0 over Traysa Downing and Debbie McClain.

Bellefontaine hosts Kenton tonight.
