Junior Nick Sims set a new school record for nine holes and powered West Liberty-Salem’s boys golf team to a 147-163 win over visiting Springfield Catholic Central on Thursday in Ohio Heritage Conference play.
The Tigers remain unbeaten in the OHC at 9-0.
Sims finished three under par with a 32, which is a new school mark and earned him medalist honors against the Irish.
“Nick had a hot putter tonight,” said WL-Salem head coach Darrin Leichty. “His 12 putts helped him break the school record for being three under in a nine-hole match. We need to continue to be consistent ball strikers as we finish out the last few weeks of the season.”
Also for the Tigers, Kannon Stillings carded a 37, Jake Rutan had a 38, Ethan McBean recorded a 40, Dillon Callicoat had a 42 and Casey Gay shot a 43.
WL-Salem competes in the Springfield Shawnee Invitational on Saturday.
