Local swimmer Skyler Tavenner won six gold medals at the 2013 AAU Jr. Olympics games July 26-29 in the Canham Natatorium at the University of Michigan.
Tavenner walked away with eight medals in all, swimming in just 8 events. He won gold by placing first in the 200-meter IM, 100-meter butterfly, 50- meter freestyle, 100-meter back- stroke, 100-meter freestyle and the 200-meter backstroke.
In addition, he won a silver by placing second in the 200- meter freestyle and a bronze in the 100-meter breaststroke by placing fifth.
