Bellefontaine’s girls tennis team fell just short against Springfield Shawnee on Monday, losing 3-2 in a Central Buckeye Conference matchup.
Bellefontaine won at first doubles and at second singles.
In the first doubles match, Hannah Vance and Traysa Downing defeated Shawnee’s Rebecca Jeanirette and Rebecca McConry 6-3, 6-2.
The Chiefs’ Kenzie Collinsworth defeated Elli Marshall 6-1, 6-1 at second singles.
Shawnee’s Ellen Smith won 6-3, 6-0 over Kiersten Daum at first singles and the Braves’ Susan DeWitt prevailed 6-3, 6-0 over Hannah Weimer at third singles.
The Braves also received a forfeit at second doubles.
Bellefontaine hosts Stebbins tonight.
