Bellefontaine’s girls track and field team got its first taste of Division I regional action Wednesday afternoon at the University of Dayton.
The Chiefs’ Jessica Kinchen and Ashley Artis both were in action, but neither was able to earn a finals spot or advance to the state meet.
The top two finishers in each heat plus the next four best times move on to Friday’s racing finals.
Kinchen finished 11th overall in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.86, while Artis took 11th in the high jump with a height of 4-10.
The Division I Dayton regional concludes Friday with field events at 4:30 p.m. and track events at 6 p.m.
Still competing for the Chiefs on Friday are Brenda Johnson and Shauna Smith in the shot put and Alexa Haushalter in the pole vault.
