Hannah Watkins kept Houston at bay and Dayna Ober energized Triad’s offense Tuesday as the Cardinals pulled away for a 5-1 win in a Division IV sectional final softball game at West Liberty-Salem.

Watkins fired a one-hitter and Ober belted a two-run home run in the fifth inning that gave Triad some breathing room in what was a tightly contested contest up until that point.

Triad (11-16) advances to play Ansonia in the district championship game at 1 p.m. Saturday in Brookville.
