Riverside’s Phelps named NWCC coach of the year

Riverside head coach Andy Phelps took top honors as coach of the year, while 12 other area girls earned all-league honors on the recently released Northwest Central Conference softball squad.

Phelps led the Pirates to the NWCC title this spring.

Earning spots on the NWCC first-team squad were Riverside’s Taylor Nichols, Christyn Wietholter and Karli Castle and Ridgemont’s Brooke Stewart.

Landing spots on the second team were the Pirates’ Taylor Anderson and Heather Comer and the Gophers’ Taylor Knapp and Whitney Arseneau.

Players receiving honorable mention accolades were Riverside’s Taylor Goings and Chelsea Giles and Ridgemont’s Keysten Creamer and Samantha Hardin.
