Triad’s baseball team got its tournament run under way Monday with a 10-2 rout over visiting Brookville in a Division IV sectional tournament game.
The Cardinals are now 23-4 on the season and host Northridge on Wednesday in a second-round tournament game.
Triad jumped out to a 7-0 lead after three innings. Brookville scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning, but the Cardinals came back to score three more runs in the bottom of the inning.
Offensively for Triad, Tre McIntyre had a home run with two RBI, Doug Lowe went 2-3 with a double and a triple, while Trent McIntyre and Auston Sanford each went 2-4.
Colton Young picked up the win on the mound. He gave up just four hits. He also went 2-4 with three RBI at the plate.
Findlay clips Bellefontaine
Findlay made a single run hold up as it pulled out a 1-0 victory over visiting Bellefontaine on Monday in non-league action.
The Chieftains slip to 16-9 on the season.
The Trojans scored their run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The teams combined for five hits, with Bellefontaine getting only two.
Jarrod Houchin and Tyler Shamblin recorded hits for BHS.
The Chiefs host the winner of today’s game between Greenon and Kenton Ridge on Thursday in a sectional tournament contest.
Gophers pick up win
Ridgemont ended its regular season with a win Monday after dropping visiting Arcadia 6-2 in non-league action.
The Gophers built a 6-1 lead going into the seventh inning. The Redskins scored their second run of the game on an error and loaded the bases with no outs.
Ridgemont’s Tyler Tillman came in to pitch and struck out the next two batters and picked off a runner on third base to preserve the win.
Tillman also led the offense with two hits including a triple.
Tyler Allen recorded the win.
