Wildcats shut out Bellefontaine netters


Bellefontaine’s boys tennis team fell to visiting Kenton 5-0 in a non-league match Wednesday.

The Chiefs are now 0-18 on the season.

“The guys are still working at it, but I think we are struggling with our confidence right now,” said Bellefontaine head coach Jim Stein.

Kenton won all five matches in straight sets.

The Wildcats’ Jake Abbott defeated Rohan Prasad 6-4, 6-3 at first singles, Graham Reese won 6-1, 6-1 over Bellefontaine’s Tyler Frantz at second singles and Kenton’s Dale Oats prevailed 6-2, 6-0 over Logan Raney at third singles.

Kenton’s first doubles team of Troy Goodin and Collin Roll won 6-3, 6-1 over Patrick Tarasiewicz and Jacob Campbell, while the Wildcats’ Austin Ealer and Dillon Kitchen won 6-0, 6-1 over Adam Verbsky and Dean Smith at second doubles.

In reserve singles play, Bellefontaine’s Isaiah Brady lost 6-0 and Michael Coakley fell 6-0.

Bellefontaine returns to action today at home against Springfield Shawnee.
