BHS gets second seed for sectional baseball tourney

Bellefontaine’s baseball team picked up the second seed for the upcoming Division II sectional tournament during Sunday’s draw meeting.

The Chiefs took a first-round bye and open tournament play at home Thursday, May 16, against the winner of the first-round game between Greenon and Kenton Ridge.

Indian Lake begins Division II sectional action Tuesday, May 14, at home against Graham, while Benjamin Logan is also in action that night with a home game against Milton-Union.

Triad used a 19-3 record to gain the top seed for the Division III sectional. The Cardinals host Brookville on Monday, May 13.

Also in Division III, WL-Salem was seeded third and begins play Wednesday, May 15, at home against the winner of the first-round contest between Northeastern and National Trail.

Riverside was awarded the third seed for the Division IV sectional. The Pirates received a first-round bye. They play May 15 against the winner of the first-round game between Bethel and Mechanicsburg.

For Division IV sectional play in the Northwest District, Ridgemont plays Ada on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Findlay.

SOFTBALL

The tournament draw in Division II saw Benjamin Logan get the fifth seed. The Raiders host Urbana in a first-round game Tuesday, May 14.

Indian Lake travels to third-ranked Kenton Ridge for a Division II sectional opener May 14.

Bellefontaine took a first-round bye. The Chiefs begin tourney play Thursday, May 16, against the Trotwood-Madison/Springfield Shawnee winner.

In Division III, West Liberty-Salem was matched against National Trail for a first-round game. The Tigers will host that contest Monday, May 13.

Triad was seeded fourth in Division IV. The Cardinals host Troy Christian on May 14 in the first round.

If the Cardinals win over Troy Christian, they will face Riverside in the second round May 16.
