Tigers overwhelm Rams for OHC victory

West Liberty-Salem hammered out 22 hits to blast host Greeneview 21-1 on Friday in an Ohio Heritage Conference baseball game.

The Tigers led 11-1 after three innings and then exploded for 10 more runs in the fourth inning.

Jake Rutan went 3-5 with a home run and five RBI to spark the Tigers’ offense. Spencer Whitcraft had a big day as well, going 3-3 with two doubles.

Also for the Tigers, Max Bailey went 2-4, Trent Thomas went 3-4 with a double and three RBI, Grant Burden had four RBI, Kyle Crawford went 3- 4 with two RBI, Matt Ulmer went 3-3 with a double and two RBI and Ben Burden had two RBI.

Cole Wilson earned the win on the mound for WL-Salem.

Pirates bounce Botkins

Riverside continued its successful week with a 4-1 victory over visiting Botkins on Friday in non-league baseball action.

The Pirates, who wrapped up the Northwest Central Conference title earlier in the week, are now 15-8 on the season.

Riverside jumped ahead early against the Trojans, getting a run in the first and two more in the second inning for a 3-0 lead.

Botkins scored its lone run in the top of the fifth inning to make the score 3-1. Riverside countered with a run in the bottom of the fifth for a 4-1 lead.

Jake Herron went five innings on the mound to get the win for the Pirates.

Dallas Daniels had two hits and an RBI, Dustin Proffitt had two hits and Tanner Lane added an RBI for the Pirates.

Riverside is back in action Tuesday at Troy Christian.
