The honor is awarded to a Christian student-athlete and is based upon character, leadership in his or her school’s FCA huddle, and participation in his or her’s local church.

A daughter of Doug and Kim Comer, Comer was honored at the event along with other high school students from the central Ohio area. She serves on the FCA leadership team and plays golf and softball at Riverside.

Also during the evening, the 2013 Legend Award was presented in the memory of the late Tom Barrington. He played running back at Ohio State in the early 1960s.

Graduating senior Ben Buchanan of Ohio State was presented the FCA college athlete of the year. Buchanan was a
punter for the Buckeyes.

The keynote speaker for the event was retired Florida State football coach Bobby Bowden.
