Chiefs strike often against Raiders in 13-3 win


Riverside knocks off state-ranked Cardinals


State-ranked Bellefontaine found a spark early and saw its offense carry it past host Benjamin Logan for a 13-3 win in six innings on Thursday in a battle of local Central Buckeye Conference squads.

The Chieftains, who are ranked 15th in the latest Division II state poll, are now 13-5 overall and 9-4 in the CBC Kenton Trail division. The Raiders drop to 10-11, 4-8 in the CBC Mad River division.

Bellefontaine found some early momentum and jumped out to a 7-2 lead after three innings. Ben Logan drove in a run in the bottom of the fourth inning to trail 7-3.

The Chiefs came back to plate four runs in the top of the fifth inning and extend their lead to 11-3. They added two more runs in the top of the sixth to earn the run-rule victory.

Brandon Wilson powered the Chieftains on the mound and at the plate. He earned the win and went 4-4 at the plate with a double and four RBI.

Also for BHS, Matt Entsminger went 2-2 with two RBI, Cody Lyons went 2-3 with a double and an RBI, Jarrod Houchin went 2-3, Josh Clifton went 2-4, Drake Roebuck had a double and Tyler Shamblin had three RBI.

Tyler Tevis sparked Ben Logan’s efforts by going 2-2 with a double and scored two runs. Austin Ahle went 2-3 with a double and an RBI, Austin Cline went 2-2 with two RBI and Kam Newland and Collen Pulfer each had a double.

Bellefontaine hosts Olentangy Liberty on Saturday for a doubleheader, while Ben Logan travels to Indian Lake on Monday for a local CBC contest.

Pirates beat state-ranked Cardinals

Riverside gave a stellar performance on defense and on the mound as it knocked off state-ranked Triad 3-0 on Thursday in a local non-league matchup.

The Pirates grabbed a big win and improve their record to 14-8 on the season.

The Cardinals, who are ranked 17th in the latest Division III state poll, slip to 18-4.

After two scoreless innings, Riverside drove in two runs in the top of the second inning.

Neither team was able to score for the next three innings. The Pirates added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning to build a 3-0 lead. They were able to hold off Triad in the bottom of the frame to secure the win.

Dustin Proffitt gave a standout performance on the mound. He pitched a complete game three-hitter to earn the win for the Pirates.

Offensively for Pirates, Dalton Bollinger went 2-3 with an RBI, Luke Greene had a hit and an RBI and Tanner Lane recorded a hit and scored two runs.

Triad travels to Cedarville today for an Ohio Heritage Conference game. Riverside hosts Botkins tonight in non-league action.

Bodi leads Lakers past Stebbins

Junior Cody Bodi fired a one-hitter to lead Indian Lake past visiting Stebbins 9-0 on Thursday in a Central Buckeye Conference matchup.

The Lakers bump their record to 10-8 overall and 9-3 in the CBC Mad River division.
