Lima Shawnee shuts out Chieftain netters in non-league match

A talented Lima Shawnee team was too much for Bellefontaine to handle Wednesday as the host Chiefs fell 5-0 in non-league action.

Bellefontaine is now 0-14 on the season. Shawnee improves to 11-2.

“They have a really nice team,” said BHS head coach Jim Stein. “They have had good teams year in and year out, and they are strong again this year.”

The Indians won all five matches in straight sets.

Shawnee’s Jason Barton defeated Rohan Prasad 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, the Indians’ Avinash Rahasekaran won 6-0, 6-1 over Tyler Frantz at second singles and the Indians’ Josh Tomas prevailed 6-2, 6-4 over Logan Raney at third singles.

Bellefontaine’s first doubles team of Patrick Tarasiewicz and Jacob Campbell lost to Chris Mart and Rohan Cosuhelo 6-4, 6-0 and the Chiefs’ second doubles squad of Adam Verbsky and Dean Smith fell 6-0, 6-3 to Neil Parsa and Simon Wagner.

Bellefontaine is back in action today at home against Urbana.
