West Liberty-Salem’s baseball team continues to build momentum after sweeping visiting Graham on Saturday in a non-league doubleheader.
The Tigers dropped the Falcons 9-6 in the first game and edged the Falcons 7-6 in the second game.
WL-Salem has now won 11 games in a row and improves its record to 12-2 overall.
Grant Burden powered the Tigers in the first game. He earned the win on the mound with five strikeouts and went 3-4 with a double and an RBI at the plate.
Also for the Tigers, Jake Rutan went 4-4 with a double, Kyle Crawford had a double, Todd Pease had four RBI, Trent Thomas had three RBI and Max Bailey had one RBI.
In the second game, Matt Ulmer went 2-3 with two doubles and two RBI, Pease had a double and two RBI, Bailey went 2-4 with an RBI, Burden had a double and Spencer Whitcraft added an RBI.
Cole Wilson earned the win on the mound.
WL-Salem travels to Triad today for a key Ohio Heritage Conference game.
Triad splits with North Union
Triad’s baseball team split with visiting North Union on Saturday in a doubleheader.
The Wildcats took the first game 7-4, but the Cardinals came back to win the second game 14-4 in five innings.
The Cardinals move their record to 13-3 overall.
Offensively for Triad in the first game, Colton Young, Tre McIntyre and Seth Collier went 2-4, Trent McIntyre had a double and Brandon Edwards went 2-3.
In the second game, Ryan Thurman earned the win on the mound for Triad and recorded a double with two RBI at the plate.
Also for the Cards, Trent McIntyre went 2-3 with two doubles and two RBI, Young went 2-4 with two RBI, Tre McIntyre had a double and an RBI and Ryan Davis went 2-4.
Triad hosts West Liberty-Salem today in a critical Ohio Heritage Conference game.
Raiders zap Indians
Benjamin Logan’s baseball team dropped host Mechanicsburg for a 10-4 win on Saturday in a non-league meeting.
The Raiders are now 9-4 on the season.
Brady Bechtel earned the win on the mound for the Raiders with three strikeouts.
Offensively, Spencer Bycynski went 3-3 with a double, three RBI and scored a run in his varsity debut.
Ben Logan travels to Urbana today for a Central Buckeye Conference contest.
