Lyons, a junior who had a strong sophomore season last year pitching behind ace Daulton Mosbarger, put the clamps on visiting Springfield Shawnee on Tuesday in a 3-1 victory.

The Bellefontaine right-hander struck out eight in a two-hitter as the Chiefs improved to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the CBC.

Shawnee drops its record to 2-4, 1-1.

The lone Braves’ run was unearned.

Bellefontaine scored a run in the second inning and another run in the third frame for a 2-0 lead.

The Chiefs increased their lead to 3-0 in the fifth inning. Shawnee rounded out the scoring with its run in the sixth inning.

Bellefontaine collected five hits at the plate. Josh Clifton led the way with a double and an RBI. Brandon Wilson and Jarrod Houchin also added an RBI.

The Chiefs return to action Thursday at home against Urbana.
