SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Indian Lake takes pair from Russia

Indian Lake’s softball team is on a three-game winning streak after a win Friday and two more victories Saturday against Russia.

The Lakers beat Russia 7-5 in the opener Saturday and then won 6-5 in the second game.

Indian Lake is now 3-1 on the season.

In the first game, Kiersten Merritt went 2-2 with a double and she also earned the win in the pitching circle for the Lakers.

Andi Lee added an RBI for the winners.

In game two, Ashley Franks went 4-4 with a triple to pace Indian Lake’s offense.

Tori Lones went the distance in the pitching circle to get the win.

Raiders sweep Kenton

Benjamin Logan’s softball team won a pair of games against host Kenton in a doubleheader Saturday.

The Raiders won the first game 7-4 and took the second game 10-1.

In the opener, Courtney Stewart scattered five hits and struck out 11 in picking up the win.

Taylor Quay went 2-4 with a double to pace Ben Logan at the plate. Brooklyn Terrill added a double and Jessie Dodson had two RBI.

In the second game, Terrill pitched three innings to get the win. Kate Campbell finished the last four innings.

Offensively for the Raiders, Stewart went 3-3 with an RBI, Campbell went 3-4 with a double and three RBI, Melina Hilty and Dodson each had two hits and Taylor Coy added two RBI.

WL-Salem splits with Urbana

West Liberty-Salem’s softball team beat visiting Urbana 7-0 before falling to the Hillclimbers 5-4 in nine innings in a doubleheader Saturday.

In the opener, Rachel Loffing earned the win in the pitching circle. The Hillclimbers managed only one hit.

Addie Kendall went 3-4 with a double and Taylor Day and Kylie Gilroy each had two hits for the Tigers.

Loffing went 2-2 and Karlie Wilbur went 2-3 with a double to spark WL-Salem in the second game.
