Lady Pirates blitz Fairlawn in DH

Host Riverside recorded a pair of 11-1 five-inning victories over Fairlawn in a softball doubleheader Saturday.

The Pirates are now 4-3 on the season.

Jessica Davis highlighted the day for the Pirates by firing a no-hitter in the second game. Davis struck out six and walked two.

Riverside’s offense backed her with 11 hits. Monica Hurley went 3-4 and Taylor Anderson had a pair of doubles to spark the Pirates. Heather Comer had a double and a single and Chelsea Giles also had a double and single.

In the opener, Riverside piled up 10 runs in the first inning to set the tone.

Christyn Wietholter threw a two-hitter to get the win. She struck out eight and walked three.

Offensively for the Pirates, Taylor Anderson went 2-3 with an RBI, Wietholter went 2-3 and Chelsea Giles added three RBI.

Riverside is back in action today at home against Waynesfield-Goshen.
