The Tigers are now 1-4 and the Pirates slide to 3-3.

“We played a good game,” said RHS head coach Andy Phelps. “We left eight runners in scoring position, but just could not come up with that one hit to score some runs.”

Courtney Milliron hit a home run over the center field fence in the first inning to give the Tigers an early 1-0 lead.

Neither team was able to score until the bottom of the sixth when WL-Salem’s Melany Ward recorded an RBI to give her team a 2-0 lead. Riverside was unable to plate any runs in the top of the seventh.

Ward also recorded the win in the pitching circle with four strikeouts.

Despite not scoring any runs, Riverside’s offense did record nine hits Friday. Karli Castle led the Pirates going 3-4 with a double, Chelsea Giles went 2-3 and Taylor Nichols went 2-4.
