Lady Chiefs turn back Presidents in opener

The host Chiefs answered with three runs in the bottom of the first and went on to roll to a 9-3 victory.

“I felt we were aggressive at the plate with 14 hits,” said BHS head coach Katie Buffkin. “The girls played well and continue to improve.”

The Chiefs scored two runs in the third inning to up their lead to 5-2. They scored twice in the fourth for a 7-2 advantage.

Harding tacked on a run in the fifth inning to make the score 7-3, but Bellefontaine came back with two more runs in the sixth for a 9-3 lead.

MacKenzie Brunswick went 4-4 and Jazmyn Haley was 3-4 with a double and triple to pace Bellefontaine’s hitting attack. Catherine Faulder also had three hits in the win.

Sidney Dew earned the win in the pitching circle for the Chiefs.

Bellefontaine returns to action today at home against Lima Shawnee.
