KETTERING — It was hard to be upset, but even as a freshman with his first state berth, Trevor Anderson wasn’t satisfied with second best here Sunday at the Division III district tournament.

The West Liberty-Salem standout earned a runner-up finish at Trent Arena and advanced to this week’s Division III state tournament in Columbus. The top four placers at each weight class qualified.

“It feels awesome to make it to state,” said Anderson. “I wanted to get first, but it’s still a great feeling to know your hard work paid off. I felt pretty confident I could get out.”

Anderson becomes just the sixth freshman in WL-Salem wrestling history to qualify for the state tournament, according to the Tigers’ coaching staff. He now holds a 37-5 record heading into the state meet.
