Tigers have no plans to overlook Brookville

After a regular season filled with success, West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball team is not resting on its laurels as it enters the postseason.

The Tigers went 17-5 this winter, finished second in the Ohio Heritage Conference and won seven of their last eight games. None of that matters to them now, though, as they prepare to face Brookville at 8 p.m. Saturday in a Division III sectional tournament opener at Tecumseh High School.

“After the regular season, we literally patted each other on the backs and said we had a good season,” said WL-Salem head coach Aaron Hollar. “Then I told the guys that now we are no different from any other team in Division III. We are all the same, we all have the same record and we have to earn everything we get from here on out.

“We are proud of what we did during the regular season, but we realize it’s a brand new start. We want to continue to play good basketball into the tournament.”
